I've only run into this in IE7 and my Maxthon (IE based but secure!) browser.
Have you ever had your browser quit on you? For no reason would flash movies and images that used to work (like YouTube) suddenly stop and you can't figure out why?
Well there is a solution. If after all your troubleshooting efforts fail, try this:
Go to the adobe site and use the uninstaller on this page:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
THEN reinstall it from the same page. The link will take you to the Adobe download main for the flash player.
You will now have things work like cake
